According to reports, Marcelo Ebrard, Minister of Economy of Mexico, stated that the country seeks to raise tariffs on Asian-made cars to as high as 50%. "We will increase tariffs because the prices of cars arriving in Mexico are lower than what we call the reference price," Ebrard said on Wednesday during an event in the State of Mexico.
